Pet Stain & Odor

Pet urine & odor removal

If the smell comes back a day after the carpet dries, the problem was never the carpet. It is what soaked through into the pad underneath.

A real job. Under UV the spot is always bigger than what you can see in daylight.

Why it still smells after a cleaning

Urine does not sit on top of the fiber. It runs through the carpet backing into the pad, and the uric acid crystals left behind keep releasing odor — often stronger once they get damp again. That is why a surface clean can make a pet smell worse for a day or two. The fix has to reach the pad.

We blacklight every job

Dried urine fluoresces under UV. We run a blacklight on every carpet we clean, not just the ones where someone mentions a pet — because the spread underneath is almost always wider than the mark on the surface, and you cannot treat what you have not found.

We treat the carpet and the pad

Once we know the real extent, we saturate the affected area so the treatment reaches through to the pad, then extract it back out. Depending on the job that is an enzyme treatment — which breaks down the uric acid crystals causing the odor — or an oxidizer when the visible stain is the bigger problem. Often both. Treating from above does have limits once urine has gone through the pad into the subfloor, and we will tell you what we are seeing rather than sell you a clean that cannot fix it.

Dry in hours, not days

Truck-mounted hot-water extraction pulls the moisture back out as we go, so you are walking on it the same day — not living around fans for a week.

Common questions

Why does my carpet still smell after it has been cleaned?

Because the odor is usually in the pad, not the carpet fiber. Uric acid crystals left in the padding keep releasing smell, and they get more active when they are damp — which is why a surface-only clean can briefly make it worse.

How do you find spots we cannot see?

A blacklight. Dried urine glows under UV, so we can see the full spread of a spot instead of guessing from the stain on the surface. We do this on every job.

Do you treat the padding or just the carpet?

Both. We saturate the area so the treatment reaches the pad, then extract it back out. If urine has gone all the way through to the subfloor, treating from above has limits and we will say so.

Can you get cat urine out of carpet?

Yes — same process. We blacklight to find the full spread, then treat the carpet and the pad and extract.

How long does the carpet take to dry?

Hours, not days. We use truck-mounted hot-water extraction, which pulls most of the moisture back out as we go.
